Happy May

It is May first. You might be asking why am I stating the obvious? No, good reason at all, except that I am going to plan on posting everyday in May.

I got an e-mail from NaBloPoMo that the theme for May blogging is "Look up" and I think it is perfect timing to coincide with my visit to help out at Camp Chinnock today. You see when I was a camper (and on staff) Camp Chinnock offered the YMCA ragger program to us. I have my Brown Rag, which is a challenge to serve God, be humble and become more aware of the needs of others. I am still working towards my Gold Rag. You can learn more about the YMCA ragger program here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rags_and_Leathers_Program. One thing I always have loved about the program is the ragger's creed;

I would be true, for there are those who trust me;
I would be pure, for there are those who care;
I would be strong, for there is much to suffer;
I would be brave, for there is much to dare;
I would be friend to all - the foe, the friendless;
I would be giving, and forget the gift;
I would be humble, for I know my weakness;
I would look up, and laugh, and love and lift.

It is the last two lines that really speak to me. I will be humble, ugh it gets me every time! Anyway I think it is a great beginning to a month of post about looking up. And with that I am off to Camp.

D Blog Day

November is American Diabetes Month and November 14th is World Diabetes Day. I had intentions of blogging about other things today, but I could let down the entire online diabetes community by not blogging about diabetes on D Blog Day.

Dear Diabetes,
Hi Diabetes,
To the disease it may concern,
What's up Diabetes?
      There is something I've been wanting to tell you for a while now.

Sincerely,
    Mrs. Harer

Coping.....

or at least trying.....

It's been exactly a month since Grandpa Mack passed away and a little less then 3 months since Grandpa Harer passed. I think Gerry and I are doing a pretty good job keeping it together, but I know underneath the put together smiles, we are having a hard time.

My coping strategy has been just to not think about it. This works pretty well until I start to think about it. Usually the thinking happens, when I am all alone, at my desk or driving in the car. Tonight was a full on cry-fest. I  was whining to myself because my ear hurt so bad. It used to be, when I did not feel well, I would call Grandpa, it addition to Gerry, he always knew how to make me feel better. Or he'd irritate me enough that I forgot about whatever I was sick over. And that set it off full-blown tears and sniffles.

I just wonder how long it will hurt for?

Do not scratch your ears with bobby pins!

I think the title pretty much explains it all. Foreign objects do not belong in ears. I have got the most painful outer ear infection. It is miserable. Moving on....

Yesterday I promised a post about shoes, so here are the shoes I want right now!

Shoes!

I had a lovely post about shoes, but apparently that computer thought otherwise. I am frustrated and I am going to bed, so there! You'll just get two posts tomorrow!
